MNKS Corporate Social Responsibility

At MNKS, we think it is important to have a constructive impact, both in the communities where we work and in the wider environment, and we recognise that we are in a position to give something back.

Our People & Diversity

At MNKS, we know that our continued success is down to our people. We have therefore adopted a number of initiatives within the workplace relating to our members. These incorporate:

Work-life balance
We are very conscious of the importance of a stable balance between work and private life for our members. We have developed flexibility measures such as teleworking from home. Some members of staff take advantage of family-friendly flexible working arrangements. We also make available a concierge service.

Culture that fosters growth
We have concentrated on creating a work environment that allows development and personal growth. Therefore we provide our staff with internal training and coaching, including stress and performance management. We also try to foster an entrepreneurial and innovative culture.

Staff diversity and equality
We are committed to being an inclusive organisation where all employees, regardless of their background, can develop to their fullest potential to provide first-rate client service. We are dedicated to promoting a culture of equal opportunities between men and women at all levels and pride ourselves particularly in this respect. Equal representation at senior management and partner level is non-traditional and reflects our “avant-garde” ethic.

In 2013 MNKS to decided to go one step further to become a signatory to the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg. In this manner MNKS expresses its commitment to promoting diversity through concrete actions that go beyond the legal and regulatory obligations of non-discrimination and through setting up a policy in favour of equal opportunities and diversity, focused on the acknowledgement and valuing of individual skills.

At MNKS, we try to conduct our business in an environmentally friendly manner in order to minimize our environmental footprint.

“MNKS EcoLaw” was founded in May 2008 with the mission of reducing paper consumption. Actions that we have already taken in the pursuit of this mission include:

  • Recycling of waste paper;
  • Printing on both sides of the paper and presenting bibles in CD Rom format; and
  • Electronic storage of documents.

Home to our new offices, the Vertigo building is the first HQE-certified (High Environmental Quality) green office building in the city of Luxembourg. The building performs in every target of eco-management: management of energy, water and waste, servicing and maintenance. Vertigo is equipped with heat recovery ventilation, water harvesting, insulation of walls and windows is maximized, an optimal supply of natural light. The result: a harmonious relation between our offices and the environment and a sustainable means of supporting our business.

MNKS received in 2015 & 2016  the certification “Label Qualité” by the the Ministry of sustainable Development and Infrastructure in Luxembourg, which rewards MNKS ability to realize a sustainable ressources management.

IMS, the Luxembourg Association for Corporate Social Responsibility

MNKS is one of the founders of IMS (Institut pour le Mouvement Sociétal), the Luxembourg Association for Corporate Social Responsibility. The Association provides a platform for reflection and sharing of know-how in the continuous development of CSR as well as an aid to companies in the implementation of CSR projects or policies.

ECPAT Luxembourg
We support ECPAT in their endeavours to combat sexual exploitation of children and child-trafficking by purchasing office supplies.

Relais pour la Vie
We participate every year in “Relay for Life”, a 24-hour relay designed to show solidarity with patients of cancer.

Trophées de l’espoir
This year, we have begun to participate in “Trophées de L’espoir” to increase our involvement in the fight against Cancer. This action is closely linked to the “Relais pour la vie” as it is only open to the participating teams which commit themselves to collect a certain amount of money in order to donate the proceeds to the “Fondation Cancer”.

Finance Run & Walk
Since 2012 MNKS participates in the Finance Run & Walk, a sporting event gathering professionnals from the Finance sector. The proceeds are donated to Caritas Luxembourg, a charity which seeks social inclusion for the most disadvantaged.

Action Against Hunger
In order to support the Philippines which was devastated by the typhoon Haiyan, we supported the organisation “Action Against Hunger” by launching an appeal for coins among our colleagues to collect some money to donate to “Action Against Hunger”.
